At the Rubin Museum

For some reason, I fell in love with this gouache painting (from 1947?) I sat in front of it for half an hour. (Sorry about the flare: I had to take this fast, as the guard was unhappy about iPhone pix).

It shows a dying/traditional way of life at dusk, somewhere in India. It’s very mysterious: how many people are in the painting? It’s hard to tell! But in the actual painting, the water looks so very wet. It’s a brilliant work!
