It seems a single person can earn no more than $973/month (!!?!) to qualify. In other words, you have to be actually starving!
Somehow they figure I make a princely $1515.86/mo. (i.e., I’m too wealthy!) And it’s not like anything has changed for me over the last 10 years I’ve been receiving EBT (as they are now called): only Congress’ attitude toward the 1% has changed. I’m just suddenly “too rich.” Go figure.
With $895/mo. Social Security (1/3 to 1/2 of what the average American my age gets), I am disqualified! And it’s only for 2 weeks’ food anyway: for the other 2, you have to go to a food pantry.
What kind of country is this?? What in hell did I work for all those years???
(As if y’all didn’t know the answer to that question, anyway!)
Sigh.
