Christmas cheer — from an unlikely source!

We have a large building in the middle of our block that is dedicated to blind and disabled people. I was coming back from the grocery store just now, and as I was coming opposite the door of the building, three pretty ladies came out.

One had on a short “chinchilla” coat; one was young and had long blonde hair and a leather jacket; and the third was blonde and was wearing sleek black slacks, heels and a short red coat with a fur collar. As I passed them — just a few feet away from me — I said, “You ladies look beautiful!”

The lady in the red coat turned to me, smiled and said “Thank you!”

It was Joan Rivers.

I smiled back and pretended everything was normal. Didn’t mean to be rude; just didn’t know what to say next.

But it was a nice warm and fuzzy moment!
